  3. Another stereotype is based on English humor. Many people believe that their humor is not funny and strange. English, in particular British humor, is based on self-irony and sarcasm. So, people who don't know how to laugh at themselves will not understand this specific humor.

  8. The most popular stereotype about Britain is love of tea. Tea is an indelible part of British culture.
There is relatively common knowledge that British have the Chinese to thank for tea, it was actually a Portuguese woman named Catherine of Braganza who popularized the beverage in England.
Nowadays, research shows that the average UK citizen consumes nearly 2 kilograms of "dry" tea each year and the number of drinking counts 876 cups of tea a year.
Furthermore, the stereotype of the British tea lovers was reflected on English Idioms. For instance, British describe something they like or are well suited to as 'just my cup of tea' my cup of tea' and things they don't like as 'not my cup of tea'. (Lukmanova Zalina)

  10. There are lots of stereotypes about the British there but the most famous is that they drink tea all the time .They even have so-called “high-tea” at 5 o’clock p.m. But this stereotype isn’t entirely true.

  11. All foreigners believe that the full power is in the hands of the Queen. However, it is not. The Queen has no power. This is obvious, because the form of government in Britain is a constitutional monarchy. The real power belongs to Parliament. The title of Queen most likely represents the symbol of the country, its history and traditions.

  12. This is a bit of an odd one, but British people do enjoy queuing. Seriously, there's something I just can't explain about this one, but you daren't push in a queue; you should really just offer sandwiches. In fact, when it comes to Wimbledon, people will camp in a queue line to make sure that they get tickets. Now that’s dedication to queuing.

  13. There is a deep belief that all Englishmen are a bit of snobs and that sincerity is not their main character trait. Unfortunately, sometimes it really is true. However, there is a big "But”.The English are very polite. The locals are ready to apologize for everything that happens around, not even related to them. They're discreet, but they're not snobs!!! Although there is one disadvantage:the British like to complain...

  14. There is a stereotype that London is the center of the elite. It seems to everyone that London is the top of aristocracy and all that is expensive. But even the very same London is full of contrasts: in a twenty-minute subway ride from the city center you can get to the slums where the working class lives, and the level of criminality can be higher than in Moscow, for example.

  15. The British are very polite. In conversation, especially with an unfamiliar person, it is very difficult to ensure that the Englishman is rude to you. There are, of course, exceptions, but in general this nation is very polite.

  19. To my mind stereotypes are quite rude as it is looks as if you want to make everyone in any country be alike. It's like you see them being the same. I think the most famous british stereotype is about tea. And how i can see it's quite right. They really like drink tea. For example, I've seen a lot of british series and films and every actor likes tea. I'm serious, like everyone. But you know it's not only about Britain. My family likes tea very much. Even more than any british man does. In the video he said that on statics on average one british man drinks 3 cups of tea in a day. In our family we drink twice as much. And we don't even live in Britain.

  20. 1) The most popular stereotype about Britain is their love for tea (Although, Brits are consuming almost three cups a day each). 2) And no less popular stereotype about british people is that they really go on and on about the weather (But it's true as the British weather is so unpredictable). 3)The more unappealing stereotype is that Brits have bad teeth (But the BBC writes that the myth of bad British teeth is mostly American-made). 4) Another stereotype is that British people have accents no one outside of Britain can understand (but it's true and not true at the same time as some Brits speak very clearly and there also were different Bristish tribes that have led to the confusion of British accents). 5) Besides, there is a stereotype that all British people adore the queen (But it's not true, she’s probably more popular in the US than she is in the UK). 6) Also there is a stereotype that Brits overly polite. I can say that it's completely true as good manners were always appreciated in the UK. 7) And finally there is a stereotype that British food really that bad (So, it's a moot point as there are many fine restaurants that serve delicious food and at the same time there are lot of bad processed food that poor people eat).

  22. There is a stereotype that it always rains in Great Britain , the weather is bad all year long. It is true only partially. The weather is very changeable there. And most of the time it is really cold . But it cannot do without warm sunny days in the summer. Therefore , we cannot say that the weather is always terrible there.

  23. The British are really addicted to tea, but very few people know about the great British addiction to alcohol. They start drinking here from Thursday and continue until the resurrection, and the remaining weekdays are diluted with beer for lunch in the pub. But what can I say - tea time has not been canceled. Therefore, tea with milk is drunk everywhere and constantly. And it seems to me that this is one of the most favorite activities of the British.

  24. There is a deep conviction that all Englishmen are a bit of a snob and sincerity is not their main feature. And sometimes it really is true. Walking periodically through the streets of Oxford, I catch the eyes of serious professors coming out of the buildings of a famous university, and I wonder how one can be so sullen. However, there is one big “but” that distinguishes all these “sullen professors” from many.
